We are looking for a candidate that possesses excellent leadership skills and technical capabilities. You will be responsible for the daily work flow, chart documentation, and the efficient performance of others in the department. You will assist the doctor with the completion of medical records, client communication and education and help facilitate efficient workflow in the Wellness area.
The technical skills you will possess will be:
Ability to insert IV Catheters when needed for fluids and/or medication
Monitor charts to insure that the medication and treatment plan developed by the veterinarian are completed timely and properly
Administer medications as instruction by the veterinarian
Administer vaccines, other than rabies
Obtain and document all Temps, Respiratory, Heart Rate and weight on all medical charts
Prepare the animal for drawing blood for diagnostic panels and heart worm tests, including running the blood panels using our in house blood analyzer.
Educate the public and other staff members on the importance of proper care, feeding, vaccine protocols, flea prevention and heart worm prevention
Discuss treatments plans with owners as outlined by the Veterinary
Respectfully and compassionately educate the public on the importance and health benefits of Spay/Neuter, heart worm prevention and flea prevention.
Ability to multi task in a high volume / high quality environment
In addition to working in our Wellness department, the ideal candidate will have experience in surgery charts, administration of anesthesia and monitoring surgical patients during surgery and during recovery.
Other duties as assigned by the Veterinarian on staff.
Hourly rate commensurate with level of experience. This position is NOT an entry level position. Proven technician skills will be evaluated prior to hire.
