Our Kennel Technician is one of the most important people in our hospital. They are responsible for loving on and caring for our clients furry family members while they are away. We’re looking of an individual who genuinely enjoys working with animals! Attention to detail is critical and professionalism with the animals and people is essential. Our Kennel staff members are passionate about proper care of all boarded animals, including feeding, bathing, medicating, record-keeping and the cleanliness of cages, runs and ward areas. In addition, the kennel staff also play an important role in the cleanliness of the hospital.
Responsibilities of the position include:
Provides compassionate care to patients.
Can conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks.
Has the ability to communicate with owners and make them feel comfortable with leaving their pet(s) in our care.
Understands the importance of prioritizing tasks and keeps oneself busy and productive during work shifts.
Can work unaffected in an environment where dogs are barking.
Can recognize and report any unusual condition or abnormal behavior.
Can assist doctors and technicians with the safe administration of medications or with gentle patient restraint in the treatment area.
Cleans equipment and facilities using chemicals and supplies; understands the importance of safety of use of chemicals in our facility.
Must be available to work weekends and holidays to be considered for an animal care attendant position.
Our boarding facility houses dogs and cats. Basic animal care knowledge is required.
Must be reliable, hardworking and have a friendly disposition.
Work requires lifting and carrying animals and food bags (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods or time; frequently works in a bent position.
