The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA is a private, nonprofit animal welfare organization. Our mission, guided by the humane ethic, is to build healthy relationships between people and animals. First and foremost, PHS/SPCA provides care for thousands of stray and unwanted pets each year and seeks to place these animals into new, loving homes through our adoption program. The shelter is also home to many other vital programs and services including wildlife rehabilitation, cruelty investigation, low-cost spay/neuter, education and community outreach and obedience classes.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic, hardworking, animal loving individuals who will work to provide medical care as well as humane care and treatment to all sheltered animals in accordance with the policies and procedures established by PHS/SPCA. The Shelter Assistant will also ensure proper admitting, preparation, monitoring, recovery and discharge of animals in the spay/neuter clinic

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to grab, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50-75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Part Time – 24 hours per week (Fri, Sat & Sun)
Salary: $17.36 per hour
All permanent employees working 20+ hours per week
