Registered Veterinary Technician

Pet Emergency & Specialty Center of South County is seeking a Full-Time experienced Registered Veterinary Technician- Level 1 to join our amazing team!

We are a 24-hour Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Chula Vista. Successful candidate should have a minimum of 1-3years of experience in veterinary medicine.

The Registered Veterinary Technician performs a vital role in our practice, promoting efficient hospital operation and provision of excellent patient care. Candidate must have a compassionate, caring and understanding attitude. Job responsibilities include, the following.

Role Responsibilities:

-Set an example of courtesy and professionalism in working with clients and coworkers.

-Assist and follow the directions of lead technicians, management and doctors.

-Perform simple treatments as directed.

-Reliably perform treatments. Ensure that treatments are kept up to date.

-Handle all animals with both caution and compassion.

-Assist with surgeries and prepare patients for surgery.

-Assist with some reception work when needed.

-Perform basic lab work such as CBC/CHEM/Lytes and PCV’s

-Assist in taking and developing X-Rays under the supervision of a senior technician.

-Communicate with clients' pet health concerns and treatment plans.

-Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.

-Complete training and continuing education assignments on schedule

-You may be required to work beyond regularly scheduled shifts at times due to an unexpectedly heavy emergency caseload.

Experience & Technical skills:

* RVT license

* Previous veterinary technician experiences 1-2 years.

* Previous experience 1 year in Urgent Care or Emergency.

* Proficient in Triage 

* Ability to multi-task under pressure and work well with others.

* Safely restrain patients.

* Monitor anesthesia and anesthetic recovery.

* Perform basic lab work.

* Proficient in IV catheters placements, blood work, IV and SQ injections.

* Place peripheral IV catheters.

* ICU nursing.

* Monitor patients in surgery using proper anesthetic techniques

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with hourly pay rate starting at $24.5-$27/hour.

Schedule: Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 3pm-1:30am. Available to work weekends, swings and overnight shifts.
