Description
Brewer Veterinary Clinic is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Assistant to our team. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinarians and ensure the well-being of the animals under our care. The ideal candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, an ability to multitask, be a team player, perform efficiently during stressful situations and be self-motivated. Candidates must have respect and compassion for people and animals. As part of our team, you'll work with the latest technology, gain access to state-of-the-art training facilities, and collaborate with a positive team to deliver the highest quality of care to the pet patients we all love.Brewer Veterinary Clinic is an AAHA-accredited, high-volume, small animal practice. Our dedicated staff consists of a team of receptionists, veterinary assistants, licensed veterinary technicians, and veterinarians. We all work together to offer compassionate and superior care to our clients and their companions! We have a newly renovated state of the art facility, on-site digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, IDEXX testing equipment, as well as a well-stocked surgical suite and pharmacy!
Veterinary Assistant
Brewer Veterinary Clinic in Brewer, ME
$17.25-$19.00 per hour
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones
- Assist veterinarians during examinations
- Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy
- Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas
- Perform physical assessments and record your observations
- Assist with client education on topics such as nutrition, grooming, and basic healthcare
- Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients
- Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Clean and stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms
- Various housekeeping duties(laundry, dishes, cleaning kennels, etc.)
- Walk, feed, and pick up after animals

REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of basic animal care and handling techniques
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations calmly
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- High school diploma or equivalent required
