Keys Animal ER at Cruz Animal Hospital is an independently owned small-animal veterinary hospital located in the Lower Florida Keys. We are the only veterinary hospital providing 24/7 emergency care throughout the Florida Keys, serving both local residents and visitors from Key Largo to Key West.
Our hospital combines general practice and emergency medicine, operating as a busy GP/ER hospital during the day and transitioning to emergency-focused care overnight. Our veterinarians see a diverse caseload ranging from routine and urgent-care cases to critically ill and injured patients requiring stabilization, hospitalization, emergency procedures, and surgery.
We are not a corporate or specialty referral hospital. Our doctors are supported by an experienced veterinary team and are encouraged to use their clinical judgment while practicing high-quality, practical medicine in a collaborative environment.
Company History
Cruz Animal Hospital originally operated as a traditional one-doctor general practice serving the Florida Keys community. In 2022, the practice was purchased and transformed into Keys Animal ER at Cruz Animal Hospital, expanding from a GP-only model into a mixed general practice and emergency hospital.
The transition included expanding the veterinary team, hospital capabilities, and operating hours to provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Today, the hospital continues to provide general practice services while also serving as the only 24/7 veterinary emergency hospital in the Florida Keys.
