Veterinary Specialists of the Rockies is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and skilled Veterinary Assistant to join our Internal Medicine Department in Castle Rock, Colorado. As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Assistant, you’ll work closely with board-certified internists, registered veterinary technicians, and fellow assistants to provide high-quality care to complex and critically ill patients. You’ll play an important role in patient care, diagnostics, treatment support, monitoring, client communication, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient medical environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient exams, triage, treatments, and daily patient care
- Provide compassionate client communication and education
- Safely and appropriately handle and restrain patients using low-stress handling techniques
- Assist with collecting diagnostic samples and preparing patients for radiographs, ultrasound, and endoscopy
- Assist technicians and doctors with procedures and treatments
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, exam rooms, and equipment
- Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and stocking of patient care areas
- Provide compassionate care and support to patients and their families during challenging medical situations

Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay: $21 – $24 based on experience

Minimum Qualifications & Skills
- At least 3 year of veterinary assistant experience in a clinical setting (specialty experience preferred but not required)
Proficiency in:
- Client communication and education
- Blood draws and IVC placement
- Safe, low-stress patient handling and restraint
- Patient monitoring and TPRs
- Radiographs and ultrasound assistance
- Accurate medical record documentation
