Hourly Pay Rate: $22.50–$33.00/hour (based on experience, technical skill level, and hospital leveling) (Higher compensation opportunities if VTS)
Schedule: Full-time opportunities available
Location: Lakewood, Colorado
Evolution Veterinary Specialists (EVS) is hiring an experienced and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join one of our growing Specialty Services teams. Our specialty departments provide the opportunity to work closely with board-certified specialists, support complex and rewarding cases, and build advanced technical skills in a patient-focused environment. We are currently seeking technicians for opportunities in Oncology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, and Surgery. About the Role
As a Specialty Services Registered Veterinary Technician, you will support the care of patients within one of our specialty departments in a fast-paced hospital environment. These are department-specific positions, and technicians will be hired into the specialty that best aligns with their skills, interests, and experience. This role is ideal for a technician who is detail-oriented, communicative, and excited to grow their technical skills while working alongside experienced clinicians and board-certified specialists.
What You’ll Do
- Provide nursing care for specialty patients within Oncology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, or Surgery
- Assist with department-specific diagnostics, treatments, procedures, and patient monitoring
- Support advanced case management for medically complex and specialty patients
- Place and maintain IV catheters and other supportive devices as indicated
- Collect and process diagnostic samples accurately and efficiently
- Administer medications and treatments as directed
- Assist with sedation and anesthesia monitoring as appropriate to department needs
- Support patient comfort, safety, and advocacy throughout treatment and hospitalization
- Communicate clearly with doctors and team members to support high-quality patient care
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records
- Support client education and communication in partnership with the clinical team

Schedule
- Typical schedule:
- 4 x 10-hour shifts
- Schedule structure may vary based on department placement
- Weekend and holiday rotation may apply depending on department needs
Compensation
$22.50–$33.00/hour
Compensation is based on experience, technical skill level, and hospital leveling criteria
Requirements
Required:
- Current Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license
- Active registration with DORA
- Ability to work in a fast-paced specialty and emergency hospital environment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient care skills
Preferred:
- 3+ years of experience as an RVT, ideally in Oncology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, or specialty medicine
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree (AS/BS/BA)
- BLS and/or ALS CPR certification
Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Cardiology, Oncology, Internal Medicine, or related specialty strongly preferred (will be compensated more)

Work Environment & Physical Demands
This is an active, hands-on role in a fast-paced clinical setting. Team members in this position must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Kneel, crouch, bend, and stoop regularly
- Work around biological hazards and cleaning agents
- Operate medical and office equipment
- Communicate effectively in a busy and sometimes noisy hospital environment
