Emergency Veterinarian (ER) - Corona Animal Emergency Center (CAEC) Location: Corona, CA (on-site) Schedule: 3 shifts per week (12-hour ER shifts; mix of evenings, overnights, and weekends) Employment Type: Full-time Compensation: $200,000 - $350,000 per year (base + production) About Us Corona Animal Emergency Center (CAEC) is a dedicated, emergency-only hospital serving Corona, the Inland Empire, and surrounding communities. The Role As an Emergency Veterinarian, you'll lead the management of emergency and critical care cases—from triage through discharge. You'll work alongside an experienced team of ER technicians and contribute to our continuous improvement through teaching, collaboration, and protocol development. Key Responsibilities * Rapidly triage, stabilize, and manage ER and urgent cases (trauma, GDV, toxicity, respiratory distress, HBC, hemoabdomen). * Perform essential ER procedures: FAST/TFAST, line placements, wound repair, thoracocentesis, abdominocentesis, closed reductions, chest tube and feeding tube placements. * Oversee anesthesia and pain management plans; interpret diagnostics including labs, radiographs, and ultrasound. * Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding estimates, diagnostics, and prognoses. * Maintain concise, accurate medical records. * Collaborate with nursing leadership to ensure patient flow and safety; participate in M&M and case rounds. Qualifications Required: * Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) from an AVMA-accredited institution (or equivalent). * Active California veterinary license. * DEA license (or eligibility within 60 days of hire). * At least 1 year of small-animal ER/urgent care experience or completion of a rotating internship. * Surgical competency with common ER procedures or willingness to upskill with mentorship within 90-180 days. * Availability for evenings, overnights, and weekend shifts (3 shifts per week). Preferred: * Proficiency with AFAST/TFAST/Vet BLUE ultrasound. * Familiarity with transfusion medicine; CPR certification (RECOVER). * Interest in mentoring technicians and new graduates.
