AVECC in Buckeye is seeking a board-certified or residency trained Veterinary Criticalist to join our Emergency and Specialty hospital and help expand Critical Care services within a dynamic, supportive environment.

Your Critical Care service will be supported by a highly trained Emergency team, experienced technicians, and dedicated support staff committed to providing exceptional care for critically ill patients.
AVECC offers a modern facility designed to optimize patient care and clinical workflow, with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, dedicated ICU space, in-house laboratory services, advanced patient monitoring, ventilatory support, and blood product availability. In your day to day, you will:
• Manage high acuity emergency and ICU patients, including triage, stabilization, and ongoing critical care management.
• Lead or participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to the development of clinical protocols.
• Perform advanced therapies (e.g., mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen) based on available equipment.
• Utilize advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities to manage complex critical care cases.
• Collaborate closely with the Emergency team to ensure seamless transitions between emergency stabilization and ongoing ICU care.
• Support Critical Care program growth such as blood bank services.
• Participate in continuing education and mentorship opportunities, including POCUS and echocardiography training.
• Help foster strong relationships between Critical Care, Emergency, and specialty services.
• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.
• Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.
• Contribute to a positive, team focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.
What You Bring
• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
• Board Certification by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care or residency training in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care.
• Strong clinical skills and an interest in managing complex, critically ill patients.
• Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client centered approach.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
• A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, mentorship, and advancing specialty medicine.
• An interest in contributing to the continued growth and development of Critical Care services.
