At Northfield Veterinary Center, you'll have the unique opportunity to build and shape a growing Oncology service within one of the region's newest specialty hospitals. We are seeking a board-certified or residency-trained Medical Oncologist who is excited about joining a collaborative specialty team, delivering advanced oncology care, and helping establish the future of specialty medicine in Southern New Jersey.
Opened in 2024, Northfield Veterinary Center was purposefully designed to provide advanced specialty and emergency care to a rapidly growing referral community. As the only specialty hospital within an 80-minute radius, our hospital serves as a critical resource for local veterinarians and pet owners, creating significant opportunity for specialty growth and referral development. You will collaborate closely with specialists in Emergency, Critical Care, Surgery, Cardiology, and advanced imaging services while helping expand oncology care in an underserved market.
Our hospital features state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, including a Fuji 32-slice CT scanner, two fully equipped surgical suites, dedicated induction and treatment areas, advanced surgical equipment, and a supportive team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. • The anticipated starting base salary range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $200,000 to $230,000 per year.
In your day-to-day, you will:
• Deliver advanced oncology care to patients with a wide range of cancer diagnoses, developing individualized treatment plans focused on quality of life, clinical outcomes, and compassionate patient care.
• Manage oncology cases in close collaboration with Internal Medicine, Surgery, Critical Care, and other specialty services to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary patient care.
• Oversee chemotherapy protocols and support the safe delivery of oncology treatments while ensuring compliance with USP 800 safety standards.
• Utilize advanced hospital resources including CT imaging and specialty support services to guide diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, and ongoing patient management.
• Support daily client communication, including treatment updates, prescription refills, follow-up discussions, and timely triage of questions throughout the treatment process.
• Build strong relationships with referring veterinarians through collaborative case management, consultation, and proactive communication.
• Guide pet owners through complex diagnoses and treatment decisions with empathy, transparency, and confidence.
• Mentor chemotherapy-trained technicians, assistants, and support staff while fostering a culture of teamwork, learning, and clinical excellence.
• Pursue opportunities to expand your expertise through ultrasound training, electrochemotherapy (ECT) training, clinical trial coordination, and other emerging areas of veterinary oncology.
• Contribute to the continued growth and development of Oncology services while helping establish Northfield Veterinary Center as the region's premier specialty referral destination.
What You Bring
• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure.
• Board Certification in Medical Oncology (DACVIM-Oncology) or Residency Trained in Medical Oncology.
• Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client-centered approach.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.
