Join Our Dermatology Team
Tampa Bay Veterinary Specialists is seeking an experienced Dermatology Veterinary Technician to join our growing specialty team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.
In this role, you will work alongside our board-certified dermatologist and dedicated support team, assisting in the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of a wide variety of dermatologic conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who enjoys client education, patient care, and building relationships with patients and their families while working in a specialty setting.
Our Dermatology Technicians play a critical role in delivering exceptional patient care, supporting advanced dermatologic procedures, and ensuring a positive client experience throughout treatment.
What You'll Do
- Assist with dermatology appointments, patient assessments, and treatment plans
- Obtain complete patient histories and document findings accurately in medical records
- Perform and assist with diagnostic procedures including cytology collection and preparation, skin scrapings, fungal cultures, biopsies, and allergy testing
- Assist with sedated and anesthetized dermatologic procedures as needed
- Administer medications, injections, allergy immunotherapy, and other treatments as prescribed
- Educate clients regarding dermatologic conditions, treatment protocols, medication administration, and long-term management plans
- Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostics as needed
- Monitor patients during procedures and provide attentive nursing care before, during, and after treatment
- Maintain detailed medical records and ensure accurate documentation of patient care
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, equipment, and treatment areas
- Collaborate with veterinarians and hospital staff to ensure smooth workflow and excellent patient outcomes
- Experienced Veterinary Technician with an interest in dermatology and specialty medicine
- Strong client communication and education skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty environment
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple cases while providing compassionate patient care
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Passion for delivering exceptional patient and client experiences
